The founder of Rope Access UK, Adam Pearce, spent ten years with the Armed Forces and left with a deep interest in and passion for abseiling.  He has been in continuous employment ever since, and has travelled the world as a professional abseiler.

In 1999, he established Rope Access UK as a specialist contracting business, which has subsequently expanded and diversified into providing training in industrial roped access, particularly to ex-service personnel.  Adam is a Level 3 IRATA Technician, as well as being an IRATA Assessor, responsible for assessing potential abseil technicians once they have completed their training.

Training and Careers for Armed Forces personnel

The main goal of Rope Access UK is to train ex-forces personnel in industrial roped access and then find work for them.  This sets Rope Access UK apart from many other training companies, who are only interested in receiving MOD resettlement grants.  Because roped access is one of the fastest growing fields of specialization within the building and construction industry, there is ample potential to find rewarding and well paid work, both at home and abroad.  Roped access is rapidly gaining in popularity in the USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, Norway, South Africa, Singapore, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and of course, the UK.

For the last twelve years industrial abseilers have played a major part in the construction of the Olympic and commonwealth games stadiums.  America has just recently adopted our methods of industrial roped access and is looking to recruit well trained roped access operatives.  A roped access career is well suited to the service man or women leaving the armed forces as it offers the potential to travel the world, earn good money and still work as part of a team.

Whatever skills you have developed in the forces - whether you are an electrician or a welder, or have experience in communications - there are opportunities in industrial roped access for all disciplines and trades.

The work you could be involved in covers a vast range, from cleaning windows or painting an office tower, to maintaining pipework on an offshore oil or gas platform.  You could be rigging a communications tower or a concert, theatre or TV stage; stabilizing a rock face or performing non-destructive testing.   The variety is endless, and with the right training, almost any job can be carried out safely using industrial roped access.

Courses can be tailored to suit individual requirements and are held at our purpose built indoor and outdoor training centre in Bottesford, Nottingham. We offer a realistic environment including: - telecommunications towers, climbing and rescue, vertical and horizontal latch way training together with roof top awareness together with R.F. training for telecommunications industry and eyebolt testing. Rescue training is also available to enable personnel to be rescued from a fall arrest situation. We have a large database of companies and job agencies worldwide who are continuously looking to recruit well trained operatives.
